FC 25 on Nintendo Switch
Yesterday was such a lovely and chill day. I could not possibly pass on an opportunity to visit Twierdza Klodzko Mall to do some game hunting. That was exactly what I did! I snatched FC 25 game for 30.49 euro when the cheapest I could get on Amazon was 48.79. Other than that there was nothing to write home about. The selection was really small, as if the physical games market is shrinking rapidly, which is exactly what's happening, so no surprise there. Out of three shops that could possibly have games two had, but in the first one there were just a few titles for PS4/PS5 and nothing at all for Switch. Second one had a bit more, and among the games there was a relatively cheap soccer game.
FC 25 welcomed me with a download prompt and a lengthy wait. It took over 90 minutes for the download to complete. Game's reviews that I watched on YouTube prior to pulling the trigger on the purchase were favorable, like that it is not just last year's game with updated rosters, which is nice. I'm not a big soccer fan, but I can casually play some of it every once in a while. I already own FIFA 20 on Switch, so that's gonna be half a decade of “distance” between those games. I might end up selling the older one.
My first match was Sparta Praha versus HJK Jelsinki, which ended in a 6:0 win with an auto-adjusted difficulty level. I was given two red cards for extensive tackling. I cannot really defend in a more sophisticated manner in this game. Brute-force is the only option at my near non-existent FC skill level. It was kinda fun, but I don't think that I'm gonna play it very often.
I came across an interesting offer on-line: Switch NBA 2K22 for 20.88 euro. For an NBA fan like me it makes sense to get it. I enjoy playing old 2K's basketball sims, not only the latest and greatest. I do have some favorite players who are not featured in the latest version, like Aleksej Pokusevski, who does not play in the NBA anymore, which is a shame. He's a really good versatile player. He currently plays for Serbian Partizan Belgrade.
An off-topic thought: The pinnacle of visuals for racing games on my systems. PS4: Need for Speed: Heat hands down. Switch: Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered.
Collectibles-wise I've been eyeing some items from a Canadian seller on Ebay: Numbered Thon Maker (2020-21, Detroit Pistons) and two Tom Brady's cards (2008 and 2010, New England Patriots). I'm not sure if I'm gonna follow through with it though. I prefer to buy games rather than sports cards these days. I feel like I'm getting more out of game purchases.
