Saturday Gaming Log

Today I spent some time with a newly purchased Endling - Extinction is forever on PS4. I got it on Thursday for less than 15 euros and had it delivered on Friday, just in time for some gaming weekend ahead. Visually it resembles Untitled Goose Game, which is more simplistic, but the similarities are there. So far I managed to explore the terrain near my den, save a trapped badger (I even received a trophy for that, which was unexpected), feed my cubs multiple times, and have one of them kidnapped by an evil poacher. There were four of them initially, but I'm minus two at the moment, as one of them starved to death (sorry cub!). The game is fun and pretty. I hope that I'll manage to find this stolen cub of mine and set it free eventually.

In NBA 2K23 I scored a triple double with MJ in Jordan Challenge: 42 points, 12 assists, and 10 rebounds in a blowout 79:31 win with Seattle SuperSonics. The boards were hard to secure due to omnipresence of The Worm, who recorded 12. In another blowout (79:29 versus the LA Lakers with young Kobe Bryant) I accidentally made history by overdoing the required 36 and scoring 75 points with MJ. I ended the day with 38 out of 45 stars to collect in the Challenge.

I'm a 35-year-old casual gamer from Poland, who rediscovers gaming after a 10-year break. The last game I completed was Max Payne 3 on PC back in 2015. Recently (late 2024) I purchased a new PlayStation 4 console. Nostalgia strikes back: American Splendor by Harvey Pekar

My copy of The New American Splendor Anthology by Harvey Pekar just came in the mail. 300 pages of Harvey's trademark gloom and doom from off the streets of Cleveland. It's an amazing book and I can't wait to read it all. Pekar's stories are illustrated by various artists, but it's all quality art. I learned about Harvey Pekar and Robert Crumb from the 2003 movie starring Paul Giamatti and Hope Davis. Their performances are stellar and the story is engaging. I really dig that movie man. In the late 00s I used to download movies with eDonkey2000 (it could literally take days for the download to complete with low-bandwidth Internet connection of ours) and burn them on CDs to play on the TV screen. Luckily our DVD player supported CD-R and DivX, so it opened up possibilities for me. I could immerse in American movies and shows, which were far superior to Polish ones. Nostalgia and giving back

My first ever gaming experience was with Superfrog and Prince of Persia on Amiga 600 in the early nineties. I recall that it was my cousin's Christmas present, and we had pirated copies of those games on floppies. Superfrog was so much fun back then. We spent hours progressing through levels, collecting coins, and shooting down bees. Amazing classic. Lately I had an opportunity to give back to the family member, who made my first gaming experience happen. The person who bought the Amiga then received a special gift from me in return. After approximately 30 years since they made my first gaming experience possible I put together a special gift for them. After noticing their interest in my Switch and some of the games I decided to buy them their own system and games.
